i had a very very bad dream yesterday.
it was so shocking and painful i woke up in the middle of the night with my heart hammering.
really made me understand the piercing feel of loss, as stark as reality.

and because it was a friend, a good one, though not as close as a few others, i realized how important they are to me.

what a way to start the day.
