"The Eidolon that is you,
the labyrinth that is me"

April 22, 2006

was watching The Gospels of Judas
fascinating

but what made me think alot was the part on how Romans used to inflict hurt through physical pain of the jews back then.
now... cruelty and civilization.
thats something.

i told my mom its funny how a very civilised nation such as the ancient roman empire can enjoy and celebrate cruelty in its purest fashion.
the roman empire was a great one.
it was an era when bridges were built, a water system was designed, architectural reached a pinnacle second only to the renaissance (to me). and there was the great bath. our first spa.
in short, flourishing of arts and science (after the renaissance. ok im biased.)
but then again, renaissance means rebirth. specifically, of greco-roman traditions.
but to me it surpasses the greek and the romans. though im besotted with the parthenon and its Athenian empire.

ok, back... (thinking abt the renaissance makes me gabble. gotta curb that.)
and i always thought cruelty was something.... very primitive.
which leads to a contradiction with its high degree of advancement, i assume, in both knowledge and morality
especially cruelty as a sport. not as a deemed neccessity to survival or even a means to satisfy a man's greed for more.

just read still life with crows by douglas preston and lincoln child.
man, are they gonna be on my favourites. if they arent already.
and the main topic was amorality. so ive digressed again.

the romans' cruelty was nowhere there.
my mom said, perhaps.... cruelty is more elemental than it is primitive.
perhaps.
someone buy me Cruelty and Civilization: The Roman Games by Roland Auguet
im poor. haha.

im so sleepy.
and i want to read more P.J Parrish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
her ability to carve a scene is addictive.
as addictive as preston's and child's flair for contriving fiction with a generous dose of scientific fact.
urgh. i miss my eve and roarke.

someone send me My Problem Now by Spin Doctors. pls.
